I love this sight of contrasting landscape of high and low building, new apartment/offices and old houses. The Concourse in the background and the old shophouses near the Sultan Gate area in the foreground.
I'm surprised to find that the decor of the few restaurants located on the top floor of Orchard Central very unique. The photo shows one of the restaurants outside wall decor (made of speakers, hi-fi sets, etc.).
What happen to Orchard Emerald? Why is one of the shophouses demolished? I'm not sure too, you have any idea? I miss those mega ads and especially that mega screen facing the pedestrian crossing.
The Peranakan Place is not a place just for the Babas and Nonyas, but for anyone like you and me to visit. Great place to learn more about their cultures.
Look at this block of old flats at Plumber Road, near to the Kelantan Lane in Jalan Besar. I remember that in the past around 70s to 80s, most of the flats are of this design. See those staircase at the side of the block.
Well the name of the building New World Centre sounds great and the address 1 Jalan Berseh looks good too. This is not the old New World Amusement Park but just some shops and supermarket at Jalan Berseh.
